Disney Prepares Lafiya

The Walt Disney Co. has hired "The Fighting Temptations" scribe Elizabeth Hunter to pen "Lafiya," an animated feature set in Africa. The exact story line for the project is being kept under wraps, with the only known details being that it is set in Africa and centers on a young female lead character. The studio declined comment on the project. "Lafiya" marks the first animated effort for Hunter, who previously penned the Paramount Pictures comedy "The Fighting Temptations," which is set for a September release. Hunter also wrote "White Boy Shuffle" for Intermedia Films and Overbrook Entertainment. Kevin Sullivan is attached to direct "Shuffle." Hunter is repped by ICM and attorney Alan Wirtheimer.
